Easily create custom menus that put the things you use everyday at your fingertips
SAN FRANCISCO, CAL. - January 6, 2004 - You Software™ today introduced You Control™, a utility designed specifically for
Mac OS X that makes it easy to create custom menus that provide fast access to your files and folders and put useful information at your
fingertips. You Control menus can be located in the Macintosh Menu Bar or any corner of your display. You Control menus can also be
accessed anywhere on the Mac desktop by using customized key commands.
You Control - Brought to You by The Developers of the Original Now Utilities
You Control is a new generation of custom menu software designed by senior members of the engineering team that developed the original
Now Utilities, the best-selling custom menu software and utility collection for Macintosh computers. Craig Barnes, the founder of
Extensis and Now Software, launched You Software in November 2003, to develop and market a complete line of productivity software that
will fundamentally make the software you already own easier to use and customize, so your computer works the way you want it to.

Eleven Customizable Menu Modules Make Mac OS X Work the Way You Want It To
File System Module
With thousands of programs, utilities, documents and images on your Mac, it is easy for these files to get buried deep within nested folders making them hard to find. The File System module allows you navigate to any file or folder on any mounted drive from easily accessed menus to quickly find desired files and folders. Users can set their own custom keyboard shortcuts, or hot keys, to any folder to instantly access it. |
iTunes Module
The iTunes Module allows users to access their large music libraries quickly and easily. The iTunes module allows you to view all of your iTunes information including playlists, albums, artists and individual songs. The module also allows you to control iTunes to change tracks, start, stop or pause a song. |
Address Book Module
The Address Book module allows you to access Mac OS X Address Book information from any You Control menu without having to open the Address Book itself. Users can choose which contact items to display on the menu, and what specific information about each contact to display on any sub-menus. |
Calendar Module
The Calendar module allows you to access information in the Mac OS X calendar program, iCal, from any You Control menu. Users can determine which calendar(s) to display, and what calendar information they want to see on the menu. |
Clock Module
The Clock module allows you to add time-keeping and mini-calendar functionality to any You Control menu. The Clock is one of several modules whose functionality can be displayed in the menu bar. Users can specify where the clock will appear, display World Time Zones and set up audible alerts at specified intervals. |
Stocks Module
The Stocks module allows users to access and display stock quotes and other public stock information. Users can specify which stocks to track, how much information to display and even have the stock quotes displayed as a ticker tape in their menu bar. The Stocks module requires an active Internet connection for information updates. |
US Weather Module
The Weather module allows you to access and display current weather conditions and forecasts for multiple cities within the United States on any You Control menu. Users can specify the weather settings they want to track and have the information displayed as a ticker tape in the menu bar or have it display in a more traditional menu. The Weather module requires an active Internet connection for information updates. |
News Reader Module
The News Reader module allows users to access and display RSS news feeds via the Internet. Instant access to a variety of popular news feeds is included with You Control. Users can view news headlines and story summaries quickly and then have You Control open the full story in their web browser. The News Reader module requires an active Internet connection for information updates. |
Pasteboard Module
The Pasteboard module allows you to immediately access recent items copied to the Mac OS X pasteboard. You define how many pasted items you want to display, and whether items on the pasteboard are saved when you log out. The Pasteboard module allows text to be pasted as unformatted or RTF text. |
Process Module
The Processes module allows you to display and access currently running processes from easily accessed menus. Users can choose the types of processes to display and what, if any, information about those processes to display on sub-menus. |
Recents Module
The Recents module allows you to access recent applications and documents from any menu you choose, not just the Apple menu. The Recents module can be configured to show only recent applications, only recent documents or both. |
