FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New You Control: Fonts makes it easy to find fonts by letting you create a WYSIWYG font menu that displays the fonts in their own typeface and groups them into their proper font families.
You Software today announced You Control: Fonts a software utility that lets you create a WYSIWYG font menu in Mac OS X.
Built upon the award-winning You Control custom menu utility, You Control: Fonts allows you to create a custom font menu that makes it easier to find your fonts by displaying fonts in their own typeface, grouping them into their proper font families and reducing the size of your font menu.
Before the introduction of You Control: Fonts, the choices for a Mac OS X "What You See Is What You Get" (or WYSIWYG) font menu utility were limited or non-existent. They either worked only for Carbon apps like Microsoft Word, or they only worked for Cocoa apps like Apple's Mail program and TextEdit. Not only did they not work with the applications you use, but depending on the number of fonts installed on your computer, font menus could be slow to appear thus disrupting your workflow.
You Control: Fonts makes it easy to see all of the fonts currently enabled or activated on your computer in their own typeface including an optional waterfall preview, even if you use thousands of fonts. You can see and select the perfect font for your document or design regardless of the application you work with. You can access and add to your font collections in Mac OS X's Font Book.
"The new You Control: Fonts extends the power and flexibility of You Control for creative professionals or anyone who works with numerous fonts," said Mike Wong, Director of Macintosh Products for You Software. "You Control: Fonts is one more way You Software is making the software you already own easier to use and customize, so your computer works the way you want it to."
"The power of the You Control engine allowed us to create a fast and predictable font menu utility with an elegant user interface," said You Software Chief Technology Officer Tim Brown. Tim was the lead engineer on the WYSIWYG font menus in the original Now Utilities, an award-winning system enhancement utility collection introduced by Now Software in 1991.
