You Control: Tunes 1.6.1 and You Control 1.6 both allow users to create their own controller icon sets. This page describes the necessary steps.
Each controller set is stored in a folder containing a set of png files for each piece of the controller. The folder can have any name. See the image on the right for an example of one such folder.
Each set must contain the following png files, with these exact file names:
In addition, you can optionally include two images for the ratings.
If these two items are omitted, the standard black and white star graphics will be used.
The folder is stored in the support folder for the application. The location will depend on whether you are running the full You Control or You Control: Tunes:
~/Library/Application Support/You Software/You Control/iTunes/Images/
~/Library/Application Support/You Software/You Control Tunes/iTunes/Images/
Place your controller set folder(s) within the Images folder. Note that the Images folder may not exist (if there are no custom controllers), in which case create that folder first.
Once you have placed the folder with the appropriate images in the correct location, they will appear at the top of the list of controllers on the Controllers tab of the configuration application. You may need to quit and relaunch the application to get it to recognize your newly added controllers.
To get started, you might want to take a look at an existing sample set. The link below is a folder containing the full set of images used for one controller set.
Additionally, you can look at all the controller sets that ship with the application by following these steps:
Each folder within the Images folder is a controller set.
If you use Adobe Photoshop, you may want to use we have created a template file in Photoshop.
This file has a separate layer for each element and is pre-configured with slices. Once you have designed your images, in Photoshop choose File > Save For Web and Devices... When you save the file, it will generate a folder with each element in a separate file with the correct file name for each one.
